The 1902 Indian Head Penny, 1926 Buffalo Nickel, and 1989 28¢ Sitting Bull stamp are part of the Native American Coins continuity, a collection that includes one coin from each of the last 18 years of issue of both series (1892-1909 Pennies, 1918-1938 Nickels), plus 18 different U.S. stamps honoring Native Americans.

• The Indian Head Penny and Buffalo Nickel were the first widely-circulating U.S. coins to feature Native American portraits. Both coins are long out of issue.

• The Indian Head Penny is over 100 years old, while the Buffalo Nickel is nearly 100 years old.

• The stamp featuring Sitting Bull was issued September 28, 1989 and is in original Mint condition.

• The panel also includes historical information about Sitting Bull, a legendary Native American medicine man and chief of the Hunkpapa Sioux who fought against encroachment onto his people’s traditional lands. He later appeared in Buffalo Bill’s Wild West show.
