Gold Hologram Bicentennial Collection

As part of the historic celebrations in 1976 to mark the 200th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence, the U.S. Mint struck three special one-time-only circulating commemorative coins.  They were the first commemorative coins issued for circulation, and this collection brings together all three of these rarely seen coins.  Also included is a U.S. $2 bill that features “The Signing of the Declaration of Independence” on the back and which is enhanced with a stunning golden hologram.

Together, these four items create a remarkable tribute to American independence.

The coins are a Washington Quarter, Kennedy Half Dollar, and Eisenhower Dollar.  Each coin features the dual date “1776-1976” on the obverse, below the portrait.  They are the first dual-dated coins in each of the respective coin series.  Each coin is in original Brilliant Uncirculated condition.

The back of each coin displays a one-time-only design honoring the bicentennial.  The designs were selected in an open competition among ordinary Americans, and the three winning designs were chosen for their celebration of 200 years of American history.

These three coins were made available only in 1976 and can never be made again.  They are now almost 30 years old.  Each coin is a treasured piece of American history in its own right, and they make a collection of rare importance.

The Quarter features a Colonial drummer and a victory torch circled by 13 stars.  The drummer design was inspired by Archibald Willard’s famous painting, “Spirit of ‘76.”

The Half Dollar features Independence Hall in Philadelphia, where the Declaration of Independence was signed in 1776.  The coin is a tribute to the Founding Fathers who drafted the Declaration of Independence while meeting at Independence Hall in Philadelphia in 1776.

The Dollar shows the moon and Liberty Bell to symbolize 200 years of U.S. history from the Declaration of Independence to the manned moon landing.  According to tradition, the Liberty Bell rang from the top of Independence Hall on July 4, 1776, to let the people of Philadelphia know that the Declaration of Independence had been signed.

The $2 bill is the first and only commemorative bank note in U.S. history.  It features the portrait of Thomas Jefferson, who wrote the Declaration of Independence in 1776 and served as America’s third President from 1801-1809.  The back depicts the painting “The Signing of the Declaration of Independence” by John Trumbull.  $2 bills are rarely seen in circulation and are always treasured by collectors.

This $2 bill is privately enhanced with amazing golden holograms that bring the classic design to life.  The ability to add holograms to bank notes is a new technology that even the U.S. Government does not possess!

The main design elements are improved with the addition of golden hologram foil.  Although the bank note remains legal tender, this hologram edition can not be found in circulation.  It is available only in special collections like this.

The complete collection of three bicentennial coins and the golden hologram $2 bill is displayed in a custom wallet and comes with a Certificate of Authenticity.
